Step by step guide to setting up an on-line business

Come up with a domain name. This is the name people will type in or click on to get to your web site. Can be a good idea to have your domain name indicate your business function. As an example if your business was home loans then www.homeloans.com would be ideal.

Register your domain name You can normally register for 1 to 3 years at 12 month intervals. Expect to pay about $25 a year for a domain name.

 Buy some web space. For about $15 per month you can get at least 1 GB (1000 MB) of disk space. I would recommend that you buy your web space and domain name from the same provider as this will make linking your web space to your name a little easier. You should be told when you buy your name and space if you need to make any changes yourself.

Once linked you will be able to up load your files that make up your website to your website. The packages that you can buy from us here include all the files that you need. You should be able to up load files either through the control panel of your website or through the use of a ftp program of which there are free ones available for download off the web.

 Setup a payment method so that you can get paid. There are plenty of different payment programs, but stay with a trustworthy one that your customers will not mind using themselves. If you have already purchased our sellable online content from us to use on your site then you would have noticed that we use Paypal. With the use of Paypal we setup a “Buy it Now” button and copy that into our sales web page so people can purchase the programs.

 It can take a while for search engines such as Google to index your new web pages but you can drive traffic to your website nearly straight away. You can do this through the use of some advertising, such as Google Adsense which is a pay per click service. You can then sit back and watch the people visit your site and buy your products.
